MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Federal Minister of Finance, Biixi Imaan Cige, held talks with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Representative to Somalia, Christophoros Politis, during a visit to the Ministry of Finance in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and UNDP, with particular attention to Somalia’s Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) and efforts to improve coordination among government institutions involved in national development financing.

The two sides also discussed ways to advance financing plans aligned with Somalia’s development priorities and strengthen coordination around resources needed to support key government programmes.

The discussions included opportunities to expand UNDP’s technical assistance to the Federal Government of Somalia, particularly in areas related to development planning, financing coordination and institutional capacity.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by Somalia’s Finance Ministry and international development partners to improve the country’s financing systems and ensure that available resources are better aligned with national development priorities.

The parties also explored opportunities for further cooperation and technical support aimed at supporting government-led development programmes and strengthening the capacity of national institutions.
