MOGADISHU — Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi “Diyano,” the current Commander of the Somali Police Force, is reportedly expected to be appointed as Somalia’s next Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, according to reports circulating online.
If confirmed, the move would mark a significant reshuffle within Somalia’s security and political leadership. Diyano has served as the country’s police chief and could now move to one of the government’s most strategically important ministries.
At the same time, Major General Sulub Ahmed Firin is reportedly expected to return as Commander of the Somali Police Force. Firin previously held the position and remains a senior figure within Somalia’s security establishment.
The reported changes would see Diyano move from the police command to the Interior Ministry, while Firin would once again take over leadership of the national police force.

There has been no official confirmation yet from the Somali Federal Government regarding the reported appointments. The changes would need to be formally announced by the relevant government authorities before they can be considered final.
The Interior Ministry plays a key role in Somalia’s internal administration, federal affairs, reconciliation and coordination with the country’s Federal Member States. Meanwhile, the Somali Police Force remains central to maintaining public security and supporting national law-enforcement operations.
