BAIDOA — A young man identified as Jamaal Hassan Nur was shot dead last night in the Wadajir neighborhood of Baidoa, the capital of Somalia’s southwestern Bay region, in what residents described as a robbery-related attack.
According to preliminary reports, Jamaal was confronted by a group of armed men who allegedly demanded his mobile phone. He was reportedly shot after refusing to hand over the device. The assailants then fled the scene, according to local accounts.
The killing has sparked grief and concern among residents, renewing fears over civilian security in Baidoa, where reports of armed robberies and other violent incidents have raised concerns about public safety.
