Mogadishu – The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced that a planned military operation carried out last night near Buulo-Xoog village in the Hiiraan region resulted in the killing of several Al-Shabaab militants and the destruction of vehicles transporting weapons and fighters

According to a statement issued by NISA headquarters, the operation was launched after intelligence surveillance tracked the movement of Al-Shabaab fighters and their vehicles returning from the Shaw area. The militants were reportedly en route to another location when the agency launched the attack.

“After confirming accurate intelligence regarding the movements of the militants, the National Intelligence carried out a successful operation targeting vehicles and fighters returning from the Shaw area,” the statement read.

NISA reported that seven Al-Shabaab members were killed in the raid and that two trucks loaded with arms and militants were destroyed. The agency emphasized that the operation was precisely executed and that video footage was captured, which will be released to the Somali public to showcase the blow dealt to the militant group.

“The operation concluded successfully with the destruction of vehicles, weapons, and the elimination of armed militants. The agency has secured video evidence recorded by its surveillance team, which will soon be shared with the Somali people,” NISA added.

However, the agency did not release names or images of the deceased militants involved in the operation.

This latest offensive comes amid intensified efforts by Somali forces to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s strongholds and logistics across central regions.
