Mogadishu – In a decisive blow to the Al-Shabaab militant group, the Somali National Army (SNA), supported by local allied fighters, has killed several high-ranking insurgents during a series of coordinated military operations across the country, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence.

Speaking at a press conference, Ministry spokesperson Sheikh Abuukar Moalim confirmed that 11 Al-Shabaab ridcals were killed in the Xiinguduud area, situated between Qod-Qod and Camaara in the Galgaduud region. The operation, targeting well-known militant hideouts, successfully neutralized individuals suspected of orchestrating attacks against both civilians and government forces.

In a separate strike, elite Danab Commandos conducted a high-level assault in the Miindo and Harbole areas of Lower Jubba. The raid led to the death of a senior Al-Shabaab commander, Ibrahim Takeey, who was reportedly behind numerous kidnappings and acts of terror targeting local populations.

Additional operations were also launched in the Middle and Lower Shabelle regions, resulting in further militant casualties and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.

Spokesperson Sheikh Abuukar hailed the success of the operations and commended the strong collaboration between national forces and local communities. He reiterated the government’s firm resolve to sustain pressure on Al-Shabaab and to continue efforts aimed at fully liberating the country from extremist control.

“These victories reflect our growing strength and unity in the fight against terrorism,” he said. “We are committed to ensuring lasting peace and security for our people.”

The operations form part of a larger national offensive to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s operational infrastructure and restore stability across Somalia.
