Hargeisa – The President of the self-declared Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), has strongly criticized the political mobilization initiated by the Federal Government of Somalia in eastern Sool region, describing it as a violation of Somaliland’s sovereignty.
In an interview with local media, President Irro declared that no negotiations could take place with the Somali government as long as it continued what he described as “aggressive actions against Somaliland.”
“We cannot engage in dialogue with Somalia while it is actively organizing an alternative administration in a part of Somaliland. We are a peace-loving people, but we will defend our country and our citizens,” Irro stated.
His comments were a direct response to the growing support for the SSC-Khaatumo administration in the town of Las Anod and across eastern Sool. He argued that such efforts posed a serious threat to the territorial integrity of Somaliland.
President Irro emphasized that Somaliland remains open to dialogue based on mutual respect and national unity but will not accept any actions that undermine its territorial integrity or attempt to establish a parallel administration outside of Somaliland’s laws.
He reiterated that Somaliland is an independent state with the same borders it had as the former British Somaliland, and affirmed its right to defend its people and territory.
