MOGADISHU, (HAN) – The Somali capital, Mogadishu, is scheduled to host the Somalia-U.S. Business Summit on October 4–5, 2025, the Somali Embassy in Washington, D.C., announced in collaboration with Cleanport Ventures. The summit is designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance economic engagement between Somalia and the United States.

The high-level event will be hosted by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and will bring together senior government officials, federal ministers, investors, and business leaders. Its primary focus is on promoting trade, investment, and sustainable economic development.

Summit Agenda

The summit will spotlight key strategic sectors, including clean energy and infrastructure, aviation and logistics, fintech and inclusive finance, education and workforce development, as well as fisheries and the blue economy.

Plans are also in place for the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to foster private sector engagement and strengthen collaboration between Somali and U.S. businesses.

President Mohamud highlighted Somalia’s evolving economic vision, stating, “Somalia is not seeking aid; we are building a strategic partnership. This summit reflects our transition from an aid-dependent economy to one that attracts investment, where American innovation meets Somalia’s abundant opportunities.”

Somalia’s Foreign Minister emphasized the broader significance of the summit for bilateral relations, adding, “For many years, our cooperation with the United States has centered on security. Today, through this summit, we are opening a new chapter: unlocking the full potential of Somalia’s market through trade, investment, and strategic partnership.”

The summit is expected to serve as a key platform for strengthening business ties and presenting Somalia as an emerging and attractive destination for investment.
