MOGADISHU, (HAN) – The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), today received Somali international boxing champion, Ramla Ali Ahmed.
During the meeting, Dr. Muungaab presented Ramla Ali with a Medal of Honor, in recognition of her remarkable achievements in international boxing and her role in raising Somalia’s profile on the global sporting stage.
Ramla Ali, who has been in Mogadishu for the past few days, had also recently been awarded a Medal of Honor by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. She was praised for representing Somalia with pride in international competitions and for showcasing the strength, talent, and resilience of Somali women athletes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab) reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting and promoting sports in Somalia. He emphasized the importance of standing by Somali athletes and encouraging the country’s participation in international sporting events, including the Olympic Games.
