KAMPALA, (HAN) – Senior officials from Somalia and Sudan convened in Kampala on Wednesday to discuss ways to deepen their longstanding diplomatic relationship.

Somalia’s Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hamsa Aden Haadow, met with Sudanese counterpart Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil to explore avenues for strengthening historical and bilateral ties.

During the talks, Al-Fadil expressed gratitude to the Somali government for its consistent support and solidarity with Sudan during difficult times.

Haadow, in turn, described Sudan as a “brotherly nation” with a special place in the hearts of the Somali people and government, emphasizing that the relationship between the two countries is founded on long-standing cooperation and mutual respect.

Officials highlighted their shared commitment to enhancing diplomatic, political, and socio-cultural relations for the benefit of both nations’ citizens.
