MOGADISHU – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Da’uud Aweys Jama, received a consignment of modern broadcasting equipment from the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Alper AKTAŞ.
The donation, provided through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), includes high-definition cameras and live broadcasting systems aimed at strengthening Somalia’s National Media.
The handover ceremony in Mogadishu was attended by TİKA Somalia Director Zafer Eski. Minister Aweys thanked the Turkish government for its continued support, emphasizing that the new equipment will help the national media promote good governance, accountability, counter-extremism campaigns, and upcoming national elections.
Ambassador AKTAŞ reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to strengthening Somalia’s media and communication sectors, while TİKA Director Eski noted that the equipment will enhance media quality and capacity through training and modernization programs.
National Statistics Agency Concludes GIS Training for Environmental Monitoring
The Director General of Somalia’s National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS), Dr. Abdisalam Abdirahman Mohamed, officially closed a training program on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for monitoring environmental indicators related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The training brought together representatives from multiple ministries, including Environment, Agriculture, Livestock, Energy, Fisheries, Planning, and Disaster Management (SoDMA).
Dr. Abdisalam urged all institutions to apply the new knowledge to improve inter-agency coordination and to build an integrated national statistics system.
