DOHA, (HAN) — Foreign ministers from Islamic nations and the Arab League gathered in Doha on Sunday for urgent consultations on Israel’s recent attacks and the mounting crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The high-level meeting aimed to forge a unified response to what many describe as unrestrained Israeli aggression that has left Arab states increasingly vulnerable and under pressure to act.

The Doha talks were convened against a backdrop of growing frustration across the Arab and Muslim world, where public anger has been building over what is seen as the failure of regional governments to take meaningful steps to counter Israel’s military actions.

Despite years of repeated condemnations, critics say little has been done to halt the bloodshed in Gaza, which continues to claim civilian lives and devastate communities.

Officials at the meeting discussed both immediate political measures and longer-term strategies for dealing with Israel’s policies. Diplomats stressed the need for solidarity among Arab and Islamic states, warning that divisions have only emboldened Israel’s hand in the conflict.

“The time for statements is over. Our people demand action, and history will judge us for our silence,” one delegate was quoted as saying during the closed-door sessions.

Tomorrow, the ministerial gathering will be followed by a full summit of heads of state and government from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Leaders are expected to deliberate on coordinated steps, including potential diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian measures, to address both the ongoing war in Gaza and Israel’s wider regional actions.

Analysts note that while the summit may signal a stronger collective stance, past attempts at unified action have often faltered due to internal divisions and competing national interests. Still, observers say the severity of the current crisis may push governments to consider more concrete steps.

Doha, with its history of hosting regional negotiations, has become the focal point for renewed Arab and Islamic deliberations at a time when the humanitarian situation in Gaza grows increasingly dire and calls for accountability grow louder worldwide.
