ADDIS ABABA — The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, held talks with Mohamed Arrouchi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Permanent Representative to the African Union, as preparations continue for the upcoming session of the AU Executive Council.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the AU Commission and Morocco ahead of the high-level session, with both sides emphasizing the importance of ensuring a successful and results-driven meeting that advances the implementation of the African Union’s priorities.
During the discussions, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf praised Morocco’s continued engagement within the continental organization and recognized the country’s contributions to AU initiatives and institutional development.
The AU Chairperson highlighted the importance of closer cooperation among member states to improve the effectiveness of the organization, promote unity, and advance Africa’s shared goals in areas including peace, security, development, and regional integration.
Ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to supporting AU efforts and contributing to initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among African countries.
The upcoming Executive Council session is expected to address key continental issues, including implementation of AU programmes, institutional reforms, regional security challenges, and efforts to accelerate Africa’s development agenda.
The meeting reflects ongoing diplomatic consultations among AU member states as the organization works to enhance coordination and deliver on its strategic priorities across the continent.
