CAIRO – Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has voiced strong opposition to what he described as Israeli plans that could destabilize Somalia, during a meeting in Cairo with Massad Boulos, an adviser linked to US President Donald Trump.

According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, Sisi warned against “any actions that could undermine the security and stability” of countries in the Horn of Africa, stressing Cairo’s firm rejection of initiatives perceived to threaten Somalia’s unity or territorial integrity.

The talks also focused on regional security dynamics and Egypt’s efforts to promote stability across the Horn of Africa. Sisi reiterated Cairo’s commitment to supporting political stability and preventing external interference in the internal affairs of countries in the region.

Egypt has increasingly raised concerns over geopolitical competition in the Horn of Africa, viewing developments there as closely tied to its broader national security interests, particularly regarding Red Sea security and the regional balance of power.

While the Egyptian statement did not provide details of the alleged Israeli plan, officials indicated that Cairo considers any attempt to fragment Somalia or reshape its political structure through external influence a serious threat. Analysts say Egypt’s position reflects growing unease over shifting alliances and foreign involvement in the Horn of Africa, a region already grappling with conflict and strategic rivalries.
