MOGADISHU — Somali Member of Parliament Farah Maalim has criticised President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, questioning his leadership and accusing his administration of failing to deliver meaningful results for the country.
In remarks broadcast by SStTV, Maalim said the president had little to show for his leadership, using strong language to express his dissatisfaction with the government’s performance.
“Hassan Sheikh has failed. He has nothing to show for his leadership. He is a man walking around with his clothes wide open, exposing himself while pretending to be presentable,” Maalim said.
The lawmaker also criticised Somali armed opposition groups for aligning themselves with Ethiopia, describing such alliances as a serious political and strategic mistake.
Maalim argued that groups claiming to defend Somalia’s interests should carefully consider their relationships with neighbouring countries, particularly Ethiopia, given the longstanding tensions between the two nations over security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
His comments reflect wider political disagreements in Somalia over the federal government’s leadership, opposition strategies and the influence of regional powers in the country’s domestic affairs.
The remarks add another dimension to the ongoing political debate surrounding Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration and the future direction of Somalia’s political and security landscape.
