BELEDWEYNE — Former Speaker of the Hirshabelle State Parliament, Osman Barre, has proposed that Lamagalaay be renamed in honour of the late Nabadoon Cilmi Hagar Guure, whom he referred to as a martyr.

In his proposal, Osman Barre suggested that the name “Shahiid Nabadoon Cilmi Hagar Guure” be adopted to commemorate the traditional elder and recognise his legacy.

The proposal highlights the importance of preserving the memory of individuals regarded as having made significant contributions to their communities. If adopted, the suggested renaming would serve as a tribute to Nabadoon Cilmi Hagar Guure and ensure that his name remains part of the area’s historical and public identity.

However, further details regarding the proposal, including whether it has been formally submitted to the relevant authorities or received official consideration, have not been provided.

Osman Barre, the former Speaker of the Hirshabelle State Parliament, made the proposal as part of a call to honour the late traditional elder.
