GAROWE — General Jimcaale, the Commander of Puntland’s Danab forces and the 54th Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), carried out an extensive early morning inspection of Federal Government troops stationed in Garowe on Saturday, underscoring the critical role of security forces in preserving peace, stability and national unity across Somalia.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by military leadership to evaluate the operational readiness of security personnel and strengthen coordination among forces operating in Puntland. During the inspection, General Jimcaale met with senior military officers, unit commanders and rank-and-file soldiers, receiving detailed briefings on troop deployment, security operations and the overall security situation in and around the Puntland capital.

Addressing the assembled troops, the commander praised their commitment and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation, while urging them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and accountability in carrying out their duties.

He emphasized that Somalia’s security institutions have a responsibility not only to protect citizens from security threats but also to uphold the country’s sovereignty, constitutional order and territorial integrity. General Jimcaale stressed that ensuring lasting peace and stability requires close cooperation between federal and regional security agencies, as well as continued engagement with local communities.

“The security and stability of our country depend on the dedication, discipline and unity of our armed forces,” he told the soldiers. “Every member of the security services must remain vigilant, committed to duty and focused on protecting the Somali people and the unity of the nation.”

The commander also called on the troops to strengthen their relationship with the civilian population, noting that public trust and cooperation remain essential components of successful security operations. He encouraged soldiers to serve as ambassadors of peace and professionalism while carrying out their responsibilities.

According to officials, the inspection comes at a time when Somalia continues to intensify efforts to strengthen national security institutions and improve cooperation between the Federal Government and regional administrations. Reports indicate that the Federal Government of Somalia and Puntland authorities are maintaining dialogue and coordination on a range of governance and security matters affecting the region, including efforts to enhance law enforcement, stabilize communities and improve public safety in Garowe and surrounding areas.

Military analysts say such visits by senior commanders play a vital role in boosting troop morale, identifying operational challenges and ensuring that security forces remain prepared to respond to emerging threats. The visit also highlights the importance of collaboration among Somalia’s various security institutions as the country continues efforts to combat terrorism, expand state authority and promote long-term stability.

General Jimcaale’s inspection concluded with a review of troop formations and a final message encouraging soldiers to remain steadfast in their mission of defending the nation, protecting civilians and contributing to a peaceful and united Somalia.
