TEHRAN — Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is involved in Tehran’s negotiations with Washington, has accused the United States of sending additional weapons and military equipment to the region while publicly calling for an end to the conflict.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ghalibaf said Iran was skeptical of U.S. calls for de-escalation, arguing that Washington’s actions did not match its diplomatic messages.
“The United States continues to send new weapons and military equipment to the region while saying it wants the war to end. They think we will believe their statements, but that is not the case,” Ghalibaf said.
He added that Iran had become more familiar with what he described as U.S. strategies and had prepared accordingly.
“We now know the American tactics well and are prepared. If they are serious about wanting the war to stop, they must demonstrate it through actions, not just words,” he said.
Ghalibaf’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with both sides exchanging accusations over military activities, regional security, and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing escalation.
Iranian officials have repeatedly demanded what they describe as practical steps from Washington before accepting any new arrangements, while U.S. officials have emphasized the need to address security concerns and prevent further regional instability.
The comments also come as regional actors continue to monitor developments across the Middle East, where ongoing conflicts and rival security interests have increased fears of a wider confrontation.
