NAIROBI — Kenya’s anti-corruption agency has launched inquiries into a Parklands property allegedly linked to Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif, as part of investigations into possible irregular acquisition of public assets, according to reports.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is examining ownership and acquisition details of the land located in Parklands, Nairobi, as part of broader efforts to investigate suspected cases of corruption and unlawful enrichment involving public officials.

Officials familiar with the matter said investigators are seeking to establish how the property was acquired, the source of funds used in the transaction, and whether any public resources were involved.

The investigation comes as Kenyan authorities continue a nationwide crackdown on alleged corruption and the illegal acquisition of public property. The EACC has in recent years pursued cases involving government officials, private individuals, and institutions over suspected violations of public finance and asset ownership laws.

Governor Khalif has not been convicted of any wrongdoing, and any allegations against him remain subject to the outcome of investigations and due legal process.

The probe adds to growing scrutiny of public officials in Kenya, where anti-corruption agencies have intensified efforts to recover illegally acquired assets and strengthen accountability in government.

The EACC has repeatedly said that investigations into suspected corruption are conducted independently and that individuals under scrutiny have the right to respond to allegations through established legal procedures.
