NAIROBI — Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has appointed Dominic Mutegi as the acting Chief Officer for Urban Planning.

Patrick Analo

The appointment follows the suspension of senior county official Patrick Analo.

The decision takes immediate effect, according to a statement from the Nairobi County Government.

Analo was suspended after being arrested by Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The EACC is investigating allegations of corruption and unexplained wealth.

The case has attracted significant public attention in Kenya.

Authorities said the investigation is still ongoing.

During searches linked to the probe, the EACC reportedly recovered large sums of money in Kenyan shillings.

No formal charges have yet been filed against Analo.

Governor Johnson Sakaja said the county government will fully cooperate with investigators.

He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.

Analo has been barred from accessing his office pending the outcome of the investigation.

He has also been restricted from using official county systems and documents.

Dominic Mutegi will now oversee the Urban Planning department in an acting capacity.

His role is to ensure continuity of services within the department.

County officials said the move is intended to prevent disruption in service delivery.

The administration has also announced reforms in the urban planning sector.

A technical committee responsible for development approvals is being restructured.

Some development approval processes have been temporarily suspended.

Officials said the measures are aimed at strengthening oversight and restoring public confidence.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue their work.
