Galkayo – The Governor of Mudug region, Faysal Sheikh Ali Jifo-Jabsade, has strongly condemned what he described as politically motivated activities being orchestrated by Somalia’s Federal Government in the region. He warned that no political meetings backed by Mogadishu will be allowed to take place in Mudug without prior consultation with the regional administration.

“The region has its own governance structure and system of order. We are committed to preserving community unity, political stability, and preventing any exploitation of our current situation. Therefore, we will not accept any political meetings that are not part of the development agenda or that ignore local leadership,” said Governor Jifo-Jabsade.

He went further to allege that weapons are being secretly transported into Puntland to create instability in the area—an act he described as unacceptable. According to the governor, armed groups are being recruited from various parts of the region with the intent of causing unrest in the city of Galkayo.

Governor Jifo-Jabsade accused the Federal Government of violating the national constitution, undermining the federal system, and destabilizing regional administrations.

This latest accusation comes amid ongoing tensions between Somalia’s central government and several of its federal member states, highlighting the fragile nature of political relationships in the country.
