VICTORIA — Seychelles’ Foreign Minister Barry Faure on Friday welcomed African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf at Seychelles International Airport ahead of celebrations marking the country’s 50th Independence anniversary, officials said.

Youssouf is on an official visit to the Indian Ocean archipelago, where he is expected to join regional leaders and dignitaries in commemorating the golden jubilee of Seychelles’ independence.
The African Union Commission chairperson’s visit underscores the AU’s engagement with member states during key national milestones and celebrations.
The anniversary events are expected to highlight Seychelles’ political development and regional cooperation since gaining independence in 1976.
