MOGADISHU, (HAN) – The Acting President of Somalia and Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), on Thursday paid an inspection visit to the Warta Nabada District Police Station in Mogadishu, a day after violent clashes erupted there between government forces and opposition-aligned security units.

During his visit, Sheikh Adan Madobe described Wednesday’s incident as “deeply regrettable” and commended government security forces for what he said was their restraint, which prevented the situation from escalating further.
“The bullets I saw here yesterday were even heavier than those used during the civil war. I am saddened that our country is once again being pushed towards unrest and public disorder. What happened yesterday should never be the conduct of anyone who has served in leadership and aspires to hold office again. It is a national tragedy,” Madobe stated.
The Acting President also announced that a full investigation will be launched into a separate incident at Mogadishu’s Siinaay Market, where police officers were accused of assaulting civilians. He called on the security services to strengthen efforts in safeguarding the capital.
“I commend the Somali Police Force for swiftly controlling yesterday’s incident, particularly for arresting the officers accused of assaulting the elderly man. Those responsible will be brought to justice,” he added.
Sheikh Adan Madobe further warned opposition figures against inciting violence and mobilizing the public towards instability, saying such actions threaten national security.
“I caution the opposition against pursuing power through destructive means. What you are engaged in is not constructive politics. I urge you to refrain from repeating what happened yesterday,” the Acting President warned.
The Speaker’s visit to Warta Nabada comes a day after deadly clashes between government forces and opposition-linked troops in the district left several people dead and injured, raising renewed concerns about political tensions and security in Mogadishu.
