MOGADISHU, (HAN) — Former Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Ahmed Jama Jangali has urged the federal government to make meaningful concessions to ease political tensions and prioritize national unity and development.

In remarks shared this week, Jangali said Somalia is facing a fragile political climate at a time when the world is grappling with complex and rapidly evolving global challenges. He emphasized that the country’s position at the crossroads of competing geopolitical interests makes internal cohesion and responsible leadership more vital than ever.

Speaking to Somcan Media, Jangali stated:

“The world is going through difficult and uncertain times, and our country, Somalia, finds itself caught between opposing geopolitical forces. This situation demands wisdom, compromise, and a shared national vision among our leaders.”

He urged both federal and state authorities to set aside political rivalries and focus on improving the lives of the Somali people. According to Jangali, persistent political infighting threatens to derail progress on key national goals such as peacebuilding, security reform, and institution-building.

“The time has come for our leaders to put the nation’s interests above all else and move forward together,” he said. “Somalia can only advance if dialogue replaces confrontation and cooperation guides our politics.”

Jangali, a seasoned diplomat and former foreign minister, has long been an outspoken advocate for reconciliation, dialogue, and inclusive governance in Somalia’s post-conflict political landscape.
