MOGADISHU — Member of Parliament Mr. mohamed Ali Inar known as ‘Ana-Nug’, from the Himilo Qaran Party, has accused certain members of the Somali opposition of deliberately sabotaging a planned political meeting on Tuesday night.
According to him, some of these opposition figures had been promised high-profile political appointments, including the position of Prime Minister and ambassadorial roles, in exchange for undermining the talks.
In a strongly worded statement, MP Ana-Nug urged members of the Somali Salvation Forum (Madasha Samatabixinta Soomaaliyeed) to engage in honest self-reflection during this politically sensitive period. He warned against political opportunism and short-term personal gains.
“We are at a critical moment. Leaders whose terms are ending are facing intense political pressure both domestically and internationally. It is unacceptable for some individuals to accept or expect political bribes, such as promises of the Prime Minister’s post, ambassadorial appointments, minor financial incentives, or regional administrative positions,” he said.
The MP claimed that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), whose mandate is nearing its end, is attempting to co-opt a small number of Salvation Forum members into undermining the opposition’s efforts.
“I tell these friends: do not step into that political mud. Instead, remain committed to the mission of safeguarding state institutions and ensuring timely, consensus-based elections,” he emphasized.
He concluded by saying:
“A lack of agreement is still better than a bad deal that wastes time.”
The accusations come amid growing political tensions in Mogadishu, as both the government and opposition prepare for an election period clouded by mistrust and strategic maneuvering.
