Somali PM Arrives in Las Anod for North Eastern Anniversary and Development Projects

LAS ANOD — Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and a high-level delegation arrived in Las Anod, where they were warmly welcomed by officials from the North Eastern administration, traditional elders, civil society representatives, women, youth, and hundreds of local residents.

The Prime Minister’s visit is part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with the North Eastern administration while demonstrating its commitment to peace, stability, governance, and improving public services in the region.

During his stay in Las Anod, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is expected to attend events marking the anniversary of the North Eastern administration. He will also hold meetings with regional leaders, community elders, business representatives, civil society groups, women, youth, and other community members to discuss local development priorities and strengthen cooperation between the federal government and the administration.

The meetings are expected to focus on accelerating development projects, expanding healthcare and education services, improving infrastructure, strengthening security, increasing government services, and finding sustainable solutions to the needs of local communities.

Officials are also expected to discuss plans for the construction and rehabilitation of roads, improving access to water and electricity services, expanding health facilities and schools, and implementing other projects aimed at improving living conditions for residents.

Somalia’s Minister of Health, Ali Haji, said the purpose of the Prime Minister’s visit is to participate in the anniversary celebrations of the North Eastern administration and strengthen relations between the Federal Government and local authorities.

The minister said the planned meetings would be productive and would help speed up the implementation of development projects and essential services prioritized by communities in the region.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is also expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for new development projects as part of the Federal Government’s plan to strengthen basic services and support economic growth in the area.

The visit comes as Somalia’s Federal Government continues efforts to strengthen state-building, promote national unity, develop infrastructure, and improve cooperation with regional administrations across the country, with the goal of ensuring Somali citizens receive quality services and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister is expected to remain in Las Anod in the coming days, where he will participate in anniversary events and launch several projects aimed at supporting regional development and improving social services for local communities.
