Somalia and Qatar Hold High-Level Talks on Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

DUBROVNIK – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Ali, held bilateral talks with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, on the sidelines of the Dubrovnik Forum, officials said.

The meeting focused on strengthening longstanding diplomatic relations between Somalia and Qatar and expanding cooperation across political, economic, and development sectors, according to Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both ministers reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed opportunities to deepen engagement in areas including governance support, investment, humanitarian assistance, and capacity building.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including security dynamics in the Horn of Africa and broader efforts to promote peace and stability in conflict-affected regions.

The Somali delegation highlighted its priorities in national development and state-building, while expressing appreciation for Qatar’s continued support in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, and humanitarian response.

For its part, the Qatari side reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Somalia and supporting initiatives aimed at stability, sustainable development, and institutional development.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continued diplomatic coordination and regular high-level engagement to further enhance the partnership between the two countries.

The meeting took place during the Dubrovnik Forum, an annual international conference in Croatia that brings together government officials and policy experts to discuss global security, diplomacy, and cooperation.
