Belgrade — Somalia and Saudi Arabia have held high-level bilateral talks in Belgrade, Serbia, focusing on strengthening relations and expanding regular diplomatic consultations between the two countries.
Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Ali, met with H.E. Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khereiji, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the conclusion of the 65th anniversary summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relationship between Somalia and Saudi Arabia.
The talks also highlighted the importance of maintaining regular consultations between the two governments on issues of mutual interest, including political, diplomatic, economic, and regional matters.
The meeting comes as Somalia continues to strengthen its engagement with Arab countries and international partners, while Saudi Arabia remains an important regional partner for Somalia.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular communication and consultations, reflecting their shared interest in deepening bilateral cooperation and coordination.
The meeting in Belgrade also provided an opportunity for the two countries to engage on the sidelines of a major international gathering bringing together representatives from member states of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The discussions underline the continued importance of Somalia-Saudi Arabia relations and the commitment of both governments to expanding cooperation and diplomatic coordination.
