Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held a productive bilateral meeting with his Nigerian counterpart, H.E. Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 47th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, which was recently concluded in Malabo, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea.
During their discussions, both ministers reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between Somalia and Nigeria and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation in key areas, including politics, economic development, diplomacy, and mutual interests.
Minister Abdisalam and Ambassador Tuggar highlighted the need to facilitate high-level visits between the capitals—Mogadishu and Abuja—as part of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral relations and foster direct diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
The ministers also reached a mutual understanding on the importance of working closely together to promote peace and security in the region. They specifically stressed the significance of joint efforts to combat terrorism and enhance mechanisms for intelligence sharing.
This diplomatic engagement marks another step forward in Somalia’s broader strategy of revitalizing international partnerships, while reinforcing regional stability and collective progress across the African continent.
