MOGADISHU, (HAN) – Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, has inaugurated a nationwide project to provide free electricity to 150 public health centers across the country. The initiative aims to address the critical need for reliable power in healthcare facilities, officials said.
Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Hamza emphasized that the project is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the country’s energy infrastructure and essential public services. He noted that the initiative will provide health and educational institutions with a stable power supply, enhancing the quality of services delivered to communities.
“The government is committed to ensuring that citizens have access to quality electricity and education. Reliable power is fundamental to all public services. The electricity we are implementing across Somalia today is environmentally friendly, known as green energy, and we hope it will empower the Somali people to utilize and benefit from it,” Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre stated.
He added that this move is a significant step for the country’s development and energy sector, underlining the government’s commitment to expanding electricity services to improve public service delivery.
