ERIGABO, (HAN) – Regional authorities from Puntland and Somaliland have initiated peace efforts aimed at resolving recent clashes in Erigabo town, a town in the Sanaag region.
Traditional elders from both sides have arrived in the town, pledging to support ongoing reconciliation initiatives intended to restore peace and coexistence among local communities.
“We are pleased to come together under the peace initiative set by President Abdirahman Irro in Erigabo town. Those absent will join later. What happened was instigated by the devil, and we hope communities will return to peace,” one elder told reporters in Ceerigaabo.
Leaders of both Puntland and Somaliland have previously stated their commitment to ensuring that the people of Erigabo live peacefully and have confidence in their governance system without coercion from any side.
Meanwhile, the Northeastern Administration announced earlier in Lasanod that it would not recognize any peace arrangement concerning Erigabo, declaring the town as part of the territories under its control.
