Juba – Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel has emphasized the urgent need to upgrade Juba’s critical road infrastructure, underscoring its pivotal role in the capital city’s economic development and social cohesion. This priority was articulated during a high-level meeting today with the National Minister of Roads and Bridges, Simon Mijok Mijak, and the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Rabi Majung Emmanuel.

Dr. Bol Mel reflected on the indispensable function of modern roads in any thriving capital city, describing them as the vital arteries that facilitate economic vitality.

“Roads connect businesses to markets, reduce transportation costs, attract investment, and generate jobs and opportunities for all citizens,” he remarked.

Highlighting the directive of President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Vice President reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that tangibly benefits the people. He mandated the officials to devise and submit within one week a comprehensive and actionable plan that guarantees the timely execution of road upgrades, accompanied by sustainable maintenance strategies to ensure long-term advantages for the populace.

“The development journey of South Sudan is accelerating. Every road we build draws our people closer, strengthens our economy, and illuminates the path toward a brighter future for all,” Dr. Bol Mel declared. He further noted that every completed project reflects the government’s vision of enabling every citizen to dream bigger and realize greater achievements.

This call to action signals a decisive step towards enhancing Juba’s urban infrastructure, critical for consolidating peace, fostering economic growth, and unifying South Sudan’s diverse communities.
