ADEN — The spokesman of the Southern Armed Forces, Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, said Tuesday that southern troops have been placed on the highest level of readiness, underscoring what he described as their determination to protect the will of the people and the sovereignty of the South amid growing political and security tensions.

In an official statement, Al-Naqeeb said the forces are fully prepared to confront any threats that could undermine security, stability or public order in southern regions. He stressed that the armed forces remain disciplined and vigilant, and are closely monitoring developments on the ground.

“Our armed forces are at the highest level of preparedness to safeguard the will of the people and defend the sovereignty of the South,” Al-Naqeeb said, adding that the troops are committed to maintaining stability and protecting what he called the political gains achieved through years of struggle.

Al-Naqeeb warned that any attempts to destabilize the region or impose political outcomes by force would be met with firm resistance. However, he said the forces remain committed to acting responsibly and in coordination with security institutions to avoid further escalation.

The statement comes as southern Yemen faces ongoing political uncertainty and security challenges, with rival factions competing for influence and control in key areas. Tensions have periodically flared in recent months, raising concerns about renewed clashes that could further complicate Yemen’s already fragile situation.

Southern forces, aligned with the Southern Transitional Council, play a major role in security across parts of southern Yemen and have repeatedly emphasized their demand for greater autonomy or independence for the south. The situation remains volatile, with observers warning that continued divisions could deepen instability and hinder efforts toward a broader political settlement in the war-torn country.
