TIGRAY — Forces affiliated with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) reportedly launched an ambush against an Ethiopian military convoy in the Tigray region, according to preliminary reports from the area.
The convoy was said to have departed from Mekelle, the regional capital, and was travelling toward Adigrat, a town in northeastern Tigray, when it came under attack.
According to the reports, the ambush took place in valleys along the route between Mekelle and Wukro, an area connecting several key locations in the region.
Details about the circumstances of the attack remain limited. There has been no confirmed information regarding casualties, damage to military vehicles, or the extent of the impact on the convoy.
The reported incident comes amid renewed tensions in Tigray, where political disagreements and security concerns have raised fears of further armed confrontations between TPLF-affiliated forces and Ethiopia’s federal government.
The situation along the Mekelle–Wukro–Adigrat route remains unclear, and the reported attack has not been independently verified.
Further information is awaited regarding the incident, including possible casualties and any response from Ethiopian federal authorities or TPLF representatives.
