Trump Defends Iran Deal, Dismisses Critics as ‘Fools’

WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump on Thursday strongly defended his administration’s agreement with Iran, dismissing critics of the deal as “fools” as diplomatic efforts continue ahead of planned implementation talks in Switzerland.

Speaking to reporters, Trump lashed out at those accusing him of making concessions to end the conflict, insisting the agreement was necessary to prevent further escalation and bring stability to the region.

“Those who say we gave up too much don’t understand diplomacy,” Trump said, adding that the United States had acted in its national interest.

The remarks come ahead of upcoming negotiations in Switzerland aimed at finalising the implementation framework of the US-Iran agreement, which has drawn mixed reactions from political opponents in Washington and allied capitals.

Supporters of the deal argue it could help reduce tensions in the Middle East and open the door to broader regional dialogue, while critics warn it may weaken US leverage over Tehran in future negotiations.

The Iran agreement marks one of the most closely watched diplomatic developments of recent months, amid shifting alliances and ongoing conflicts across the region.
