CAABUDWAAQ — Registration of new recruits joining Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has officially begun in the town of Abudwaaq, with authorities confirming that around 240 individuals are expected to join the security institution.
Officials said the recruitment process is part of efforts to strengthen NISA’s operational capacity and expand security personnel. The newly registered recruits are expected to undergo training inside Abudwaaq district as part of their preparation before taking on official security duties.
The move comes as Somalia continues efforts to reform and strengthen its security institutions amid ongoing operations against militant groups, particularly Al-Shabaab, which remains an active security threat in several parts of the country.
Local authorities and security officials have not provided further details on the duration of the training program or the specific units where the new recruits will be deployed after completing their preparation.
The recruitment initiative reflects the federal government’s broader efforts to increase the capacity of national security forces and improve intelligence and security coordination across Somalia.
