Hargeisa – More details have emerged about the clash that occurred yesterday in the city of Hargeisa, which led to the killing of two civilians.

The Somaliland police forces shot and killed the two individuals after a dispute arose at a mining site located in the Agabar area of Maroodi Jeex region.

The clash broke out after local residents protested against a company that had long-standing disputes with them and was operating mining activities in the area. The violence resulted in the police opening fire, causing the death of the two people.

The Somaliland government has temporarily suspended the company’s operations, with the Vice President issuing an order halting the work until further notice.

Meanwhile, President of Somaliland Administration, Abdirahman Irro extended condolences to the families of the deceased and announced that a committee has been appointed to resolve the incident.

“May Allah have mercy on the two deceased, and may he grant patience and faith to their bereaved families. I call on the local community to maintain peace. The government has formed a committee to find a lasting solution to this issue, and Allah willing, it will end in peace,” said President Irro.
