ANKARA — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has held a phone conversation with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to congratulate Spain on its victory in the World Cup, praising the achievement and discussing broader international issues.
During the call, Erdoğan said he was particularly moved by the celebrations among people in Gaza following Spain’s triumph, describing the scenes as carrying a special emotional significance.
The Turkish president also praised Spain’s position and support regarding the Palestinian cause, saying Madrid’s stance had strengthened the country’s international reputation and earned it appreciation from many communities around the world.
