HARGEISA — Somaliland political commentator Buur Madow has made remarks linking Somaliland’s long-running pursuit of international recognition to the political position and actions of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
In comments that have sparked political discussion, Buur Madow said: “Our recognition depends on Hassan Sheikh Mohamud…” He appeared to suggest that developments between Somaliland and the Federal Government of Somalia could have a major influence on the future of Somaliland’s diplomatic ambitions.
