Mogadishu – The Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of the Banadir Region, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), has chaired a high-level meeting focused on reopening key roads in Shangani District that have been blocked off by security barricades protecting government institutions such as the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting brought together top officials, including the Director-General of the Ministry of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank, and senior commanders from the Banadir region’s Police and National Intelligence Services. Discussions centered on how to ensure the security of these critical government installations while also reopening access routes to the public and facilitating infrastructure reconstruction.
Mayor Muungaab and the attending officials reached a consensus on the need to reopen the roads, with the aim of restoring mobility and easing public access. A security plan presented by the Banadir Regional Administration was approved during the meeting. The plan outlines measures to safeguard nearby government buildings while simultaneously allowing for the rehabilitation and reopening of the previously blocked roads.
Since taking office, Mayor Muungaab has overseen the launch of several major infrastructure projects, including the reconstruction of long-blocked roads that had deteriorated due to years of conflict and neglect. His administration views the reopening of Shangani’s roads as a vital step toward urban renewal and improving the lives of Mogadishu’s residents.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to rebuild the capital’s infrastructure while maintaining a secure environment for both government institutions and the civilian population.
