FIFA has rejected a complaint filed by Nigeria against the Democratic Republic of Congo, citing insufficient evidence, a decision that confirms Nigeria’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Nigerian Football Federation had lodged the complaint following a disputed qualifying match, alleging regulatory or eligibility violations. However, FIFA said its review found no grounds to uphold the case.

As a result, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will not advance in the qualification process, marking a major setback for one of Africa’s most successful football nations. The decision has sparked disappointment among fans and football officials, with calls for reforms and improved performance in future tournaments.

Sports analysts say the ruling underscores FIFA’s strict evidentiary standards and highlights the need for stronger preparation both on and off the pitch.
