CAIRO — Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy has strongly condemned what he described as continued Iranian attacks targeting several Arab countries, calling for urgent international action to prevent further escalation in the region.
Fahmy said there was “no justification” for Iran’s actions, stressing that attacks against Arab states represent a violation of their sovereignty and threaten regional security.
In a statement, the Arab League chief reaffirmed the organization’s support for “all legitimate measures” taken by Arab governments to defend their territories, protect their populations, and preserve their national security.
Fahmy called on the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take “effective steps to halt Iran’s violations,” warning that failure to respond could contribute to increased instability and wider tensions across the Middle East.
He emphasized the importance of respecting international law and the principles of state sovereignty, urging the international community to take a firm position against actions that endanger peace and security in the region.
The comments come as tensions continue to rise between Iran and several Arab countries, with concerns growing over missile attacks, regional military activities, and the possibility of a broader confrontation.
The Arab League has repeatedly called for diplomatic solutions to regional disputes while defending what it describes as the right of member states to protect their sovereignty and security.
