Iran Accuses U.S. of War Crimes Over Strikes on Key Infrastructure

TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States of committing war crimes, saying recent American strikes on what he described as Iran’s “vital infrastructure” constitute a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

In a strongly worded statement, Araghchi said the attacks targeted critical civilian and strategic facilities and reflected what he called a disregard for international legal norms. He warned that those responsible for ordering and carrying out the strikes would face accountability, insisting that “they cannot evade legal responsibility” for their actions.

The Iranian foreign minister also condemned the attacks as a dangerous escalation that could further destabilize the region. He urged the international community and the United Nations to take action, investigate the strikes, and hold those involved accountable under international law.

The comments come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following a series of military confrontations that have raised fears of a broader regional conflict. While the United States has defended its actions as necessary for national security and regional stability, Iranian officials maintain that the strikes violate Iran’s sovereignty and international legal obligations.

The latest exchange of accusations underscores the deepening confrontation between the two countries, with diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions facing increasing challenges.
