SAYLAC — Saudi-backed food assistance has been delivered to 370 vulnerable families in the Somalia’s Awdal region.

Somaliland regional administrations said on Monday, as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to address food insecurity in drought-affected areas.

The National Disaster Preparedness and Food Reserve Agency of Somaliland administration (NADFOR), working in partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said the distribution targeted low-income households facing rising economic pressure and climate-related hardship.

Officials from NADFOR said the aid consisted of essential food supplies intended to ease immediate living conditions and strengthen household food security in vulnerable communities.

They added that the operation is part of a broader relief strategy aimed at reaching drought-affected populations across the region, with plans to expand assistance to other districts in coordination with international partners.

Awdal region is among areas frequently affected by recurrent droughts, which have increased food insecurity and reliance on humanitarian support in recent years.

The Somaliland administration said continued cooperation with international donors would remain central to strengthening emergency response systems and improving long-term resilience in affected communities.
