MOGADISHU — Veteran Somali journalist Hassan Kafi Qoyste, who spent many years working in Somalia’s media sector, has died in Mogadishu after suffering a sudden illness, according to information released by colleagues and members of the Somali media community.
Qoyste was a familiar figure among journalists and media professionals in Mogadishu, where he worked for many years covering developments in Somalia and contributing to the country’s journalism sector.
In his most recent role, he worked as a correspondent for the Somali Service of Voice of America (VOA), continuing a career that spanned several years in Somali media.
