MOGADISHU — The Federal Republic of Somalia has expressed its sincere appreciation to the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) for approving a full waiver of Somalia’s outstanding financial arrears amounting to €591,707.17.
The decision was described by Somali authorities as a significant demonstration of solidarity, partnership, and shared responsibility among OACPS member states. Officials said the waiver reflects the confidence and support extended to Somalia as the country continues efforts toward national development, institutional strengthening, and deeper engagement with the international community.
In a statement, the Federal Government of Somalia thanked OACPS members for their commitment and friendship, emphasizing that the decision represents an important milestone in strengthening Somalia’s relationship with the organization.
“Somalia remains fully committed to meeting its future obligations and contributing actively toward our shared goals and the continued success of the OACPS community,” the statement said.
The government added that Somalia values the cooperation and mutual support provided by OACPS and pledged to continue playing an active role within the organization.
The waiver comes as Somalia continues its efforts to rebuild its economy, strengthen governance institutions, and expand international partnerships following years of political and economic challenges.
Somali officials said the support from OACPS demonstrates the importance of international cooperation and collective responsibility in helping member states achieve sustainable development and greater economic stability.
