NEW YORK — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the opening of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, joining world leaders and senior government officials for the annual high-level gathering.
The opening session brings together representatives from UN member states to discuss major international challenges, including global security, development, humanitarian concerns and efforts to strengthen international cooperation.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s participation provides Somalia with an opportunity to engage with international leaders, UN officials and development partners on issues affecting the country and the wider region.
