Sudan Forces Claim Capture of Strategic Military Area in Blue Nile State

0

BLUE NILE — Forces of the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) say they have taken full control of the strategic Sirkum military area in Sudan’s Blue Nile state following heavy clashes with government troops and allied armed groups.

According to field reports, the fighting involved Sudanese army forces loyal to the administration of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan as well as allied Islamist battalions.

The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) claimed that its forces secured the area after intense battles, though the government has not yet issued an official response confirming or denying the loss of the position.

The Sirkum area is considered strategically important due to its military positioning in the Blue Nile region, which has seen repeated clashes amid Sudan’s ongoing conflict that erupted in 2023.

Independent verification of battlefield claims remains difficult due to restricted access and ongoing insecurity in the region.

The fighting comes as Sudan continues to experience fragmented control across multiple frontlines involving the national army, paramilitary forces, and various allied armed groups.

The situation in Blue Nile remains fluid.
