KHARTOUM / PORT SUDAN – The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) has strongly condemned what it describes as the use of the judiciary by Sudan’s military leadership under Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to intensify a campaign of political repression targeting civilians, tribal leaders, and activists.
In a statement, the alliance alleged that recent legal and security actions are being used to intimidate communities in areas outside the control of the Port Sudan-based authorities, amid escalating fighting in several regions of the country.
TASIS said the reported targeting of tribal leaders and civil society figures is intended to suppress dissent and weaken local resistance in contested areas, particularly as clashes intensify around strategic locations such as El Obeid.
The group further accused the authorities of weaponizing state institutions to consolidate political and military control, warning that such actions risk deepening divisions and prolonging the conflict.
The allegations come as Sudan continues to face a complex and worsening conflict between rival military and political factions, with repeated accusations of human rights violations from multiple sides.
As of publication, there has been no immediate official response from Sudanese authorities regarding the latest claims made by TASIS.
Independent verification of the allegations remains difficult due to ongoing insecurity and restricted access to several affected regions.
