Israeli Defence Minister Says Israel Can Independently Strike Iran

TEL AVIV — Israeli Defence Minister has said that Israel is fully capable of independently conducting military operations against Iran without direct foreign military involvement, expressing confidence in the country’s operational readiness amid rising regional tensions.

The comments are likely to draw attention to the close but complex security relationship between Israel and the United States, which has long been defined by extensive military cooperation, intelligence sharing, and diplomatic support. While Washington remains Israel’s principal strategic ally, the remarks underline Israel’s assertion that its military planning and operational decisions are not dependent on direct U.S. participation in combat operations.

The minister further stressed that Israel has never requested U.S. forces to take part in conflicts involving Gaza, Lebanon, or Syria. Instead, he said Israel’s primary expectation from Washington is political and diplomatic backing on the international stage, particularly at forums such as the United Nations.

His remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with growing focus on security dynamics involving Iran and Israel’s regional posture. Analysts say the statement reflects Israel’s attempt to project strategic autonomy while continuing to rely on U.S. support in key areas such as advanced defence systems, intelligence cooperation, and international diplomacy.

Observers also note that despite assertions of military independence, Israel’s capabilities remain significantly reinforced by U.S. military aid and technology partnerships, underscoring the enduring strategic interdependence between the two allies.
