NAIROBI — Kenya has officially opened the 820-metre Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover in Nairobi, a major infrastructure project valued at approximately KSh3.8 billion aimed at improving traffic flow in the capital.

The new flyover is expected to significantly reduce congestion at one of Nairobi’s busiest intersections, where thousands of motorists experience delays during peak hours. The project forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize urban transport infrastructure and improve mobility within the city.

Transport officials said the flyover will enhance connectivity between key sections of Nairobi’s road network, shorten travel times, and improve access for commuters and businesses operating along the corridor.
The infrastructure is also expected to boost economic activity by reducing transport costs and improving the movement of goods and services across the city.
Nairobi has witnessed rapid population growth and increasing vehicle numbers in recent years, placing significant pressure on existing road infrastructure. The completion of the flyover is seen as an important step toward addressing traffic challenges that have long affected residents and businesses.
The project adds to a series of road upgrades and transport developments undertaken by the Kenyan government to improve urban mobility and support economic growth in East Africa’s largest economy.
